THE TREASURE COAST'S SEA TURTLES

Joseph -
On the Treasure Coast, it is critical we protect our waterways which impact not just our coastal ecosystem, but our businesses and livelihoods.
The Loggerhead Marinelife Center has been working for more than four decades to carry out this mission. The facility has been a beacon of hope in Juno Beach, saving sick and injured sea turtles and returning them to the ocean. Founded by a local teacher, Eleanor Fletcher, it’s now one of Florida’s most visited nonprofit destinations. Their work is making a global impact with a dedicated staff and countless volunteers who rescue and rehabilitate thousands of sea turtles every year. And they also collect some of the most comprehensive sea turtle nesting data in the world—all while educating visitors about the importance of protecting our ocean ecosystems.
Of course, protecting sea turtles means protecting the waters that they depend on. It’s why I’ve fought to reduce harmful discharges from Lake Okeechobee that pollute our estuaries. It’s why I authored the Jupiter Island Land Transfer Act—to protect their critical nesting habitats, and it’s why I’ve supported legislation to preserve conservation land and defend our coastal ecosystems.
Our communities’ nesting beaches are some of the most vital habitats for sea turtles on Earth. I’m proud to stand with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center on the front lines of our fight and every step of the way.
Let’s keep up the fight—for the sea turtles, clean water, and Florida’s future.
