The celebration cruises into gear at 10 a.m. with the 3rd Annual Golf Cart Parade! Starting at the 10th Street Community Center, the festive 4-mile route rolls through Stuart with a patriotic escort by Police Chief Zenelovic.
Deck out your cart in stars and stripes—prizes will be awarded for the most creatively decorated rides!
Entry is just $25 per cart. Sign up HERE.
From 4:30 to 8 p.m., the kiddos can enjoy games, face painting, and tons of activities in Flagler Park.
Bring your appetite! Eight food trucks—four in Flagler Park and four near the Riverwalk Stage—will serve up tasty eats for all.
Then, let the good vibes roll with live music by the Melinda Elna Band from 7–10:15 p.m. on the Riverwalk Stage, sponsored by Stuart Main Street and the Downtown Business Association.
And of course, it wouldn’t be the 4th of July without a sky-shattering fireworks finale! Gather your friends, family, and patriotic spirit as we light up the night in red, white, and boom. The dazzling display launches at 9 p.m. sharp! This year, we’re especially proud to team up with Martin County to co-host this star-spangled spectacular and centennial salute right here in the heart of it all—downtown Stuart, the county seat!

STUART FIRE RESCUE

Safety Tips for 4th of July

Did you know that fireworks, including sparklers burn at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit? We want everyone to have a fun and safe 4th of July celebration and the safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional show.
Here are some helpful tips (Courtesy of the National Fire Protection Association) regarding fireworks safety.
FIREWORKS are often used to mark special events and holidays. The only safe way to view fireworks is to attend a professional show. It is important to know that fireworks are not safe in the hands of consumers. Fireworks cause thousands of injuries each year.
A few ideas to get into the patriotic spirit, without fireworks:
(1) Use glow sticks, they glow in the dark and area a safe alternative to a sparkler. Fun for all ages.
(2) Loud and proud. Noise makers are sure to make a statement. They can be found at local party supply stores or make your own.
(3) Outdoor movie night. Set up a screen and projector. (Don't forget the bug spray!)
(4) Red, white and blue silly string. Fun for all ages!
(5) Throw a birthday party for the USA. Don't forget the cake!
QUICK FACTS
More than 31,000 reported fires are started by fireworks annually.
Burns account for 38% of the 7,400 injuries treated in emergency rooms in the month around July 4.
Children younger than 15 years old accounted for 28% of the estimated fireworks injuries.
Sparklers account for 29% of fireworks injuries for children under the age of 5 treated in emergency rooms in the month around July 4.
REMINDER
The City of Stuart, Florida will also be hosting a 4th of July fireworks display so instead of lighting fireworks at home, come down to Flagler Park and enjoy the show.

HURRICANE PREP

Know Your Zone

Each hurricane season, it’s important for residents to know whether they live in an evacuation zone, a low-lying or flood-prone area, a mobile home, or an otherwise unsafe structure. These areas and types of housing are the most likely to be evacuated during a storm. Knowing your zone helps you prepare ahead of time and better understand emergency orders from local officials.
This year, it's just as important to Know Your Home. If no evacuation order is issued for your area and your home is not in an evacuation zone, you may consider sheltering in place. If you do, be sure to understand your home’s ability to withstand strong winds and heavy rain.
Steps to Know Your Zone & Know Your Home
Visit the Know Your Zone Map
• Enter your home address
• Identify your evacuation zone (Zones are color-coded based on flood risk)
• Follow evacuation guidance
If you're in an evacuation zone, listen for orders from local officials.
Zone A is usually evacuated first; Zone E is typically last.
Not all zones are ordered to evacuate during every storm.
• Consider sheltering in place if safe
If your home is outside of an evacuation zone and built to withstand hurricanes, it may be safer to stay.
Evaluate your home’s structure, age, and storm readiness.
Take a moment now to check your zone.

Sharpening Skills for a Safer Stuart

City of Stuart staff are committed to keeping our community safe and resilient—especially when disaster strikes. This week, Stuart Police Officer Darius Holmes, Civilian Service Aide Vito Lorenzo, and Communications & Digital Marketing Manager Misti Guertin took part in a specialized FEMA training designed to enhance emergency coordination and response.
The three-day course, hosted at the Martin County Emergency Operations Center, focused on strategies for managing complex disasters that demand multi-agency teamwork. It was led by seasoned instructors Jeffrey Harkoom, Senior Emergency Management Coordinator, and Amy Heinberger Lopez, Deputy Emergency Management Director with Martin County Emergency Management.
Preparedness is a team effort—and Team Stuart is always training to be ready.

A Legacy of Kindness, Service--and Protecting Others

Let's Martin This County

CONTRIBUTED BY JESSICA & MELISSA, DAUGHTERS OF MARTIN DRUMMOND
On the morning of June 28, 2024, my father, Martin Drummond, was tragically killed by a drunk driver during his daily bike ride. It was a shattering loss—one that rippled through our family, our friends, and the community he quietly and consistently served.
In the days that followed, the stories poured in. Friends, neighbors, and even strangers reached out to share how my dad had touched their lives:
“He always made me feel welcome.”
“Your dad was always the first to offer help.”
“He genuinely cared—he wasn’t just in it for himself.”
We lost so much more than a father. We lost a light—a steady, guiding presence. And yet, in that loss, his legacy became clear: a life rooted in kindness, humility, and service.
That legacy inspired us to start Let’s Martin This County—a movement to carry forward his spirit by encouraging small acts of care and connection, just like he did every day.
One reckless decision ended his life. One moment of carelessness left a family grieving and a community dimmed. We can’t undo it—but we can choose differently going forward.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of his death—and the Fourth of July—I’m asking you to celebrate with intention. Please:
Don’t drink and drive.
Make a plan.
Call a ride.
Protect the people you love by making choices that honor them—and others.
If you’d like to be part of this movement to “Martin This County,” we invite you to join us for a special event: Let's Martin This County.
