A Letter From the Executive Director

Dear FP Friends and Family,

Again and again, as we walk closely with the families we serve, a familiar vulnerability has come into view—one that quietly undermines stability long before it becomes a crisis. In our county, where public transportation remains limited, reliable transportation is not a luxury but a necessity. When a working parent cannot depend on their car, everything else trembles: children miss school and doctor visits, parents struggle to arrive at work on time, and job stability (and therefore housing stability) is put at risk. Out of this very real need, and with a desire to steward resources wisely while protecting families, we have launched Operation Transportation.

This new program is built on a simple conviction: prevention is both compassionate and sustainable. Many parents, working one or even two jobs, postpone routine maintenance to make ends meet, only to face far more costly and disabling repairs later. Through partnerships with trusted local mechanics and dealerships, Operation Transportation makes preventative care—oil changes, tires, brakes, and necessary repairs—not optional, but supported. Funds are paid directly to our partners, and service schedules are built into each family’s coaching plan. In all of this, we are reminded that God calls us to care for one another in practical ways, helping parents build and follow a plan toward a more secure future—sometimes by being the steady presence they themselves never had.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this work.

God’s blessings and peace,
Madeleine Bozone
Executive Director

UPCOMING SUMMER BASH!

For many of the families we serve, summer outings aren’t always accessible. Providing opportunities like a movie night at the local theater or a day at Sailfish Splash gives families the chance to relax, have fun, and spend meaningful time together.

These shared experiences create lasting memories and strengthen family connections in ways that everyday essentials alone cannot.

Parenting Styles & Building Strong Connections

Fostering Positive Connections

We value the success of our families, and so our April program night was focused on the powerful connection between parents & their children.

Positive parent-child relationships are built through clear communication, structure, and support. Assertive communication means clearly and calmly expressing expectations without being too passive or too aggressive.
Supporting children include maintaining routines & structure, using clear communication, offering emotional support, and celebrating successes. Trying to see the situation from the child’s point of view can reduce conflict and improve understanding.

By using assertive communication and providing consistent support, parents can foster healthy relationships and help children navigate change successfully.

A big thank you to Valerie Richards, Director of MST for providing such a meaningful presentation.

Ashley's Story

After providing care for her aging parents, Ashley and her 8yr old son found themselves in a tough place. She came to us looking to rebuild her life. We helped her with the little things so she could focus on the bigger picture. She secured a full-time job, graduated from Shelter to Transitional Housing, & actively saving for a permanent place for her and her son.
As we continue to serve families in our community, one of the most important aspects of what we do is creating a safe & comforting space, so when someone comes to our door they feel welcomed with open arms. We couldn't do it without the help of our volunteers & donors, thank you.
