GETTING STARTED: WRDA 2026

Joseph -
For our communities, there is no issue more pervasive or critical than our fight for clean water. It’s why I continue to serve on the Subcommittee on Water Resources, and this morning, our subcommittee held our first hearing as we begin the process of passing the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) in 2026
WRDA is a bill we consider every two years to authorize new water infrastructure projects and establish policies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. While we won’t consider the legislation until next year, today’s hearing was an important baseline to hear from my fellow Members and local stakeholders from around the country.
Since I was first sworn into Congress, I have fought to see expedited schedules for completing infrastructure projects, new funding for our communities, improving water quality, and restoring the Everglades’ northern estuaries. I’ll continue to advocate for expedited timelines—specifically when it comes to the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir, which is now slated to be complete by 2029.
In 2026, I’m not giving up the fight to stop the discharges and send the water south!
