About Us

Founded by the late Charles F. Chapman and the late Glen D. Castle, The Chapman School of Seamanship has been a leader in hands-on, learn-at-the-helm training for professional mariners, marine tradespeople, and recreational boaters since 1971. Our programs are recognized worldwide and serve adults, youth, and military veterans, building skills that last a lifetime.

At Chapman, we are shaping the next generation of maritime professionals and boating enthusiasts with a strong focus on safety, skill, and community. Our boating courses are critical to navigating South Florida’s extensive network of waterways safely, while our specialized marine mechanics training provides a direct pathway to meaningful careers.

Through partnerships with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Veterans Affairs, we’re also proud to create opportunities for veterans transitioning into civilian careers, helping them apply their skills and experience to strengthen our communities.

Today, Chapman is embarking on an exciting new chapter of growth that includes expanding scholarship opportunities for deserving youth and veterans participating in our programs. By equipping them with the training they need to thrive, we are investing in the future of our valued maritime community.
