Dear Fellow Floridian,
This week, I was proud to travel throughout the Sunshine State, meeting with Floridians to discuss issues that are important to Florida families. Together, we discussed ways we can ensure the American Dream and homeownership are accessible for future generations, how critical it is to stay prepared for hurricane season, how we can keep Florida’s seniors safe from scams and more.
In Jacksonville, I joined state and local officials at JAXPORT to urge Floridians to stay prepared as the 2025 Hurricane Season is underway. Then, I stopped in the Orlando area for a roundtable discussion with community leaders on Protecting the American Dream and ensuring every family has the opportunity to get a great job, put a roof over their heads, and live their American Dream. I was proud to share my work to make the Trump Tax Cuts permanent and establish several new tax cuts to help Florida families keep more of their hard-earned money, including No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime, and several bills to cut taxes and make homeownership more affordable.
As Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, I had the great opportunity to hold a field hearing with leaders in Doral on the growing threat that scams and financial fraud pose to aging Americans and later visit with great members of our senior population in Naples.
Throughout the week, I also had the opportunity to meet with Jewish community leaders on the importance of standing with Israel and against all forms of hate against our Jewish community and join Cuban-American leaders to discuss our continued fight for freedom and democracy.
As your United States Senator, it’s always an honor to meet with so many Florida families and learn more about how I can continue fighting to make Washington work for every Floridian!
Sincerely,

Chairman Rick Scott Introduces STOP Scammers Act as America’s Aging Community Faces Unprecedented Fraud Schemes
Chairman Rick Scott announced the introduction of the Strengthening Targeting of Organized Predatory Scammers (STOP Scammers) Act. This bill will protect aging Americans from sophisticated international fraud schemes by directing the Secretary of the Treasury to identify and designate foreign entities engaged in financial fraud against U.S. citizens as ‘Foreign Financial Threat Organizations.’ Once designated, these organizations would be subject to asset freezes and restrictions similar to those imposed on global terrorist groups. The STOP Scammers Act will also include measures to stop foreign scammers from contacting American citizens via phone, internet, or email. Congressman Jefferson Shreve is leading the companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
Chairman Rick Scott said, “Our seniors are being relentlessly targeted by organized, international scams, many of which are run by foreign entities stealing billions from hardworking Americans every year. With my STOP Scammers Act, we’re giving the Treasury Department the tools it needs to go on offense: blocking assets, shutting down access to U.S. networks, and cutting off the communication pipelines these criminals exploit. I am fully committed to standing up for our aging community who have contributed so much to our country and deserve to enjoy their golden years in peace and financial security. Fraud prevention isn’t just a financial issue, it’s a matter of national security and dignity for older Americans. Through efforts like National Slam the Scam Day, our fraud hotline, and now this legislation, we’re building a stronger, smarter defense against fraud to shut these operations down and ensure our seniors are no longer easy targets.”

Sens. Rick Scott, Tim Scott, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Stop Big Government Waste and Support Small Businesses
Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Tim Scott and seven of their colleagues to reintroduce the Protecting Access to Credit for Small Businesses Act to reduce fraud and waste in the federal government by prohibiting a Biden-era rule that forced America’s community banks and credit unions to compete with the federal government to issue loans. This legislation will preserve the traditional public-private partnership model of the Small Business Administration (SBA) lending, which is vastly more efficient and better tailored to the needs of small businesses from coast to coast.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. I’ve run businesses small and large, and I know the pressure these owners face having employees rely on them to make payroll so they can support their families. When they look to their federal government for support, they shouldn’t be subject to big government overreach, nor left without because of fraud and waste allowed by government inefficiencies. The Protecting Access to Credit for Small Businesses Act ensures small businesses can continue to access federal resources they need through trusted, community-based lenders that best serve their needs without more big government getting in the way.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Leaders in Jacksonville for Hurricane Season Press Conference
Image

Senator Rick Scott was joined by state and local leaders and law enforcement for a press conference in Jacksonville to urge Floridians to stay prepared as the 2025 Hurricane Season is underway. Prior to the start of the 2025 season, Senator Scott traveled across the state visiting Naples, MiamiClearwaterSanford, and Pensacola on his annual Hurricane Preparedness Tour, urging families to prepare for any potential weather, because as Floridians know best, preparedness saves lives. Senator Scott is committed to ensuring families across Florida have the resources they need to prepare for, respond to, and recover from any natural disaster and is urging Floridians to review their plan and stay prepared.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Families across our beautiful Sunshine State know too well that you cannot be complacent during Hurricane Season. We have seen firsthand how powerful and unpredictable severe weather can be, causing devastation, flooding, high winds, and severe storm surge especially here in the Jacksonville area. That is why being prepared, and staying prepared throughout the entire season can make the difference between life or death. Double check your plans and gather any additional supplies you may need: flashlights, batteries, first aid kits, radios, water, and nonperishable food, before a storm is on the horizon. Our communities are so resilient, and our first responders are second to none other, however, readiness begins at home. Your safety and your family’s safety are a top priority and there is no reason to put them at risk. Don’t wait until it’s too late, ensure you’ve taken the necessary steps to be prepared!”

Sen. Rick Scott Hosts Roundtable on Protecting the American Dream in Maitland

Senator Rick Scott was joined by business and community leaders in Maitland for a roundtable on Protecting the American Dream and ensuring every family has the opportunity to get a great job, put a roof over their heads, and live their American dream. Senator Scott was proud to support making the Trump Tax Cuts permanent and establish several new tax cuts to help Florida families keep more of their hard-earned money, including No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime, and is leading several bills to cut taxes and make homeownership more affordable.
Senator Rick Scott said, “I am grateful to have lived the American Dream; growing up, my family didn’t have much and lived in public housing. As Governor and Senator, my goal has been to keep the American Dream alive so every family can have the same opportunities I did. But after four years of Democrats’ tax-and-spend policies in Washington, that American Dream was pushed further from reach as inflation and interest payments soared, making homeownership and basics like groceries harder to afford. Home ownership is a part of the American Dream and a sign of stability for many families, and I have heard from too many Floridians who want to live that dream that the cost of owning a home is taking a toll on their budgets. I have been working closely with President Trump to secure massive tax cuts that help families succeed and keep more of their hard-earned dollars, including No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime and continuing the Trump Tax Cuts, while growing the economy and driving down inflation. We can build on these efforts by passing my bills to cut their tax burden for homeowners’ insurance and flood insurance, and a tax break for storm readiness so hardworking families can live their dreams in our state without breaking the bank.”

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces PROTECT the Grid Act to Target Communist China’s Control of Smart Devices
Senator Rick Scott announced the introduction of the Preventing Remote Operations by Threatening Entities on Critical Technology for the Grid (PROTECT the Grid) Act. This bill targets an alarming threat posed by high-wattage smart devices produced or controlled by foreign adversaries like Communist China. These seemingly benign internet-connected appliances, such as smart ovens, EV chargers, and laundry appliances, can come with embedded software controlled by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) affiliated companies – giving Communist China a potential avenue to infiltrate and disrupt America’s electric grid. Senator Scott’s PROTECT the Grid Act directs the Department of Commerce to investigate and assess just how far the CCP’s influence has penetrated our infrastructure through these devices as Communist China continues to push to dominate both the appliance market and the Internet-of-Things landscape. The Coalition for a Prosperous America has endorsed this legislation.
Senator Rick Scott said, “We cannot forget the existential threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses to our national security and American citizens. The CCP uses every tool at its disposal to infiltrate our markets, our government, and our families’ everyday lives through smart products designed with a built-in backdoor for China to spy on them and access our power grids. The risk this access poses cannot be understated – it means Communist China could flip a digital switch and plunge parts of America into chaos. My Protect the Grid Act calls for an investigation into China’s influence through these items and how we can work to off their access, secure our grid, and stop a foreign dictatorship from holding American citizens hostage through their own appliances.”

Sen. Rick Scott Applauds Pres. Trump, Sec. Noem’s Efforts to Crack Down on Communist China’s Trade Fraud and Tariff Evasion
Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem applauding the Trump administration’s work to protect the American people and doing what the previous administration failed to do: hold Communist China accountable and put American workers first. Senator Scott encouraged the administration to build on its progress with strict and unrelenting enforcement of U.S. laws to stop Communist China’s exploitation of trade loopholes to conduct fraud, push dangerous drugs into our nation, evade billions in tariffs, and avoid accountability. In the Senate, Senator Scott is working to support the administration’s efforts to crack down on Communist China’s trade evasion with his bill, the Stopping Adversarial Tariff Evasion Act, to close backdoor channels China uses to skirt U.S. law.
